You may ask: what about 3D-printed aligners?

Direct-printed aligners are the future — but the future isn’t here yet for everyone. Today, 90–95% of aligner companies still rely on thermoformed models (Grand View Research — Clear Aligners Market, 2026–2033). While that transition unfolds over the next decade, every model printed is an opportunity to do better. Fry‑to‑Fab is the bridge: the sustainable choice for the world as it is today, built for the direction it’s heading.

What about recycling or downcycling existing resins?

Current photopolymer resins are thermoset materials — extremely difficult to recycle. Most end up in landfills or incinerated, neither of which is a clean solution. Proposed downcycling alternatives remain largely inaccessible at scale. Fry‑to‑Fab takes a different path: true biodegradability, by design — the only solution that closes the loop from the start.

What about water‑washable resins?

Water‑washable resins simplify post‑processing — but “water‑washable” does not mean environmentally safe. The rinse water left behind is contaminated with toxic resin particles harmful to aquatic life and water systems. It cannot go down the drain. Residual resin must be cured before disposal, adding steps and still generating hazardous waste. The problem isn’t how you clean your models — it’s what your resin is made of. Fry‑to‑Fab addresses the root, not just the symptom.

Dr. Julianna Parizotto is a Brazilian clinician, PhD in Orthodontics, and holds an Additive Manufacturing certificate from MIT. While fabricating her own clear aligners, she noticed a troubling gap: no standard protocol existed for discarding the vast volume of 3D-printed models generated daily in orthodontic practice. Resin manufacturers’ datasheets simply instructed disposal in household trash — headed to landfills, where those models persist for up to 500 years.

In 2022, she partnered with Dr. Eliane Trovatti — biochemist, 4 post-doctorates, 80+ publications in natural polymers — to develop a resin from waste cooking oil, transforming one of the world’s most problematic waste streams into a high-performance material.
